Description

I’m putting together a 2D proxy set for armies for my gaming group and noticed that there’s no information on the various counters/components and their sizing. Looking at the components image at… https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/mediawiki/images/f/ff/Epic40kcontents.jpg …there are a few things which would be helpful to add to the compendium for those of us using the online rules as a first exposure, without the base game: more detailed manifest of chits/counters/pieces …how large are the barrage templates? …what are the yellow circles w skulls(?) on them? …what are the 1cmx1cm markers w reticles(?) on them? …what are the slightly larger (2cm x 2cm?) chits w graphics on them? Objective markers? etc. Basically, I’m trying to make the game from scratch and there’s just a few pieces of missing information to do so, and it would be helpful to have them in the Compendium. thank you!

Reply/notes from Eric

Hmm, I see your point. For the most part, I’ve simply reproduced the original content — but this does seem like a case where something extra would be nice.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. This is now on my to-do list — I don’t update this project very often now, but I intend to do this and some other little tweaks at some point.

To answer your particular questions:

  • The Barrage templates are 6 cm diameter.
  • The three yellow and three blue circles with skull graphics are initiative counters (see The initiative). Very easy to substitute with alternatives — I have the originals, but I use plastic tiddly-wink counters instead.
  • “the 1cmx1cm markers w reticles(?) on them” — if you mean the five little counters that are mostly black (and five similar that are mostly yellow), these are HQ unit markers. I use little wooden cubes instead, where needed — much easier to pick up and move.
  • The 2 cm markers with numbers 1 through 10 on them (and the word ‘Hidden’ on the other side) are for use with the Hidden set-up rules.
  • The 2 cm markers with various other graphics on a green background (and various text on their opposite sides) are objective markers (see Objectives).

The Epic Remastered project would also benefit from some of this information, so I’ll keep that in mind too.
